About Us
A Thoughtful, Individualized Approach to Care
My goal is simple... to help you get back to doing the things you enjoy.
Whether that's playing with your grandchildren, traveling, gardening, returning to work, enjoying golf again, or simply getting through the day with less pain, treatment should help improve your quality of life.
Every patient has a different story. Some come in with a recent injury. Others have been living with pain or complex health issues for years. Whatever brings you through our doors, my goal is to understand the whole picture, develop a personalized treatment plan, and adjust that plan as your body responds. The focus is always on meaningful, lasting improvement rather than simply treating symptoms.
And my patients quickly learn that while I take their health seriously, I don't believe every office visit has to feel serious. A little laughter often goes a long way.
My Background
My path into healthcare wasn't a traditional one.
I began my career as a middle and high school math teacher. Teaching taught me to solve problems, recognize patterns, and most importantly, explain complicated ideas in ways that people could understand.
Those skills have stayed with me throughout my healthcare career and continue to influence how I work with patients every day.
I later transitioned into integrative healthcare, earning:
• Master's Degree in Acupuncture
• PhD in Naturopathic Medicine
• Graduate Certificate in Integrative and Functional Medicine from George Washington University School of Medicine
• Postgraduate Training in Ophthalmology from Harvard Medical School
This combination lets me look at a health concern from several directions at once, both traditional and modern and choose the approach that fits you rather than the approach that fits a protocol.
Healthcare is constantly evolving, and I believe continuing education is an important part of providing the best possible care. I regularly pursue additional training, study emerging research, and explore new approaches that
have the potential to benefit my patients. At the same time, I believe it's important to evaluate new ideas thoughtfully and critically, rather than simply following the latest trend or relying solely on old ideas because
'that's how we've always done it'.
How I Approach Treatment
I take a functional, integrative approach to care. Rather than focusing on a single symptom, I look at how different systems of the body interact with one another. Pain, inflammation, movement, stress, nutrition, sleep,
previous injuries, and overall health can all influence how someone feels and how well they recover.
Treatment isn't about following the same protocol for every patient. It's about identifying patterns, adjusting care as your body responds, and choosing the therapies that are most appropriate for your individual situation.
Working With Patients
I believe healthcare should be a partnership.
My job isn't simply to perform a treatment. It's to help you understand what's happening in your body, explain why I'm recommending a particular approach, and answer your questions along the way.I never want a patient
to feel rushed or afraid to ask questions. Understanding your health is one of the most important parts of the healing process.
I also believe in setting realistic expectations. Healing doesn't always happen overnight, and every person responds differently. As you progress, your treatment plan is adjusted based on how your body responds rather
than following a fixed schedule.
My goal is for you to leave each visit feeling informed, confident, and actively involved in your care.
More Than Medicine
Outside the clinic, Ive always been curious about the world and the people in it. I’ve traveled widely, taught algebra to teenagers, and along the way became an ordained inter-faith minister.
Although, Ministry was never my profession, it changed how I practice medicine. Some of the most important moments in my office have nothing to do with needles or lab work. Every so often a patient, often a veteran,
needs something simpler: someone to side down, hold the calls, and truly listen. When that happens, the treatment can wait a few extra minutes. Sometimes the most important thing I can do is simply listen.
My own path here wasn’t a straight line either. There were detours and disappointments I never planned for and looking back, those were the moments that shaped me the most. Had life gone the way I had originally
imagined, I might never have become a healthcare practitioner. Now I can’t imagine doing anything else.
Life has taught me that healing isn't always about returning to where you were before. Sometimes it's about discovering a better path forward. That philosophy shapes both my personal life and my approach to patient care. Every challenge has the potential to teach us something, every setback can become an opportunity to grow, and every patient deserves to be treated as an individual with a unique story
Learning Doesn't Stop When You Leave the Office
One of the reasons I created the Suncoast Whole Health Podcast is because there simply isn't enough time to cover everything during an office visit.
The podcast allows me to explore health topics in greater depth and answer many of the questions patients ask every day. From pain and inflammation to cholesterol, blood sugar, nutrition, aging, and overall wellness, each
episode is designed to make complex topics easier to understand without overwhelming medical jargon.
My goal isn't to tell you what to think or which path you should choose. It's to give you clear, balanced information so you can make informed decisions about your own health
When people understand the "why" behind a condition or a treatment plan, they can make better decisions and become active participants in their own care. I believe healthcare should be a partnership, where patients feel informed, supported, and confident in the choices they make.
Whether you're dealing with chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or simply looking for a more personalized approach to your health, I hope you'll find our office to be a place where you're listened to, informed and treated as an individual... because your story matters.
