BioSignal Modulation Therapy

A gentle, targeted therapy designed to support pain relief, calm inflammation and improve recovery.

Most patients feel nothing at all during treatment.

Your Body Runs on Communication

Every part of your body is constantly communicating.

Your brain talks to your muscles. Muscles communicate with tendons. Nerves carry information to and from every organ and tissue. Every moment of every day, your body is sending and receiving millions of signals that help regulate movement, healing, circulation, inflammation, and countless other processes.

When injury, inflammation, surgery, or chronic pain interferes with those signals, the body doesn't always coordinate healing as effectively as we'd like.

That's where BioSignal Modulation Therapy (BMT) comes in. BMT isn't forcing the body to heal, and it isn't replacing your body's natural processes. It's designed to support your body's own communication systems so healing can
happen more efficiently.

The name says exactly what it does: Bio means the body. Signal means communication. Modulation means adjusting and optimizing. Put them
together and you have a therapy that helps fine-tune the body's own signals.

Why I Added This Technology to My Practice

I've been practicing acupuncture for many years, and I've seen excellent results with it. But I'm always looking for tools that can help my patients recover more efficiently. When I find something supported by emerging
research, sound scientific principles, and my own clinical experience I evaluate it carefully and critically before it ever reaches a treatment room.

BMT earned its place. It uses extremely low levels of electrical current, far below what most people picture when they hear “electrical stimulation.” The signals are very similar to those your body naturally produces, and
they're selected and applied to specific areas to support the body's self-regulation and communication systems.

In practice, I use it to help the body regulate pain, calm inflammation, and restore more normal function.

How Does It Work?

Your body naturally communicates through electrical signals. When injury, inflammation, or stress disrupts that communication, the result can be pain, delayed healing, muscle tension, and nerve irritation.
BMT delivers precise, targeted frequencies designed to support normal cellular communication and help the body return to a more balanced state.

Here's how I explain it to patients. Imagine a city after a bad storm. Roads are blocked. Traffic lights are out. Emergency vehicles have trouble getting where they need to go. Nothing is broken beyond repair;
communication just isn't flowing efficiently. BMT is intended to support the body's communication pathways so healing can be coordinated more effectively. Think of it as helping restore more organized communication
within the body's natural healing systems.

What Does It Feel Like?

Honestly? Usually nothing. The current used is extremely low, similar to your body's own electrical activity, so there's typically no tingling, pulsing, or discomfort. Many patients simply relax during treatment, and some are
surprised when I tell them we're already done.

BMT may be used to help with chronic and acute pain, muscle and joint discomfort, inflammation, nerve-related symptoms, and recovery after injury or surgery. It's also gentle enough to use alongside other therapies, which is often exactly how I use it.

What the Research Suggests

Low-level microcurrent has been studied for decades. Laboratory research has examined how these very small currents may influence cellular energy production and tissue repair, and clinical studies have explored their use
for muscle soreness, wound healing, and certain chronic pain conditions. Research in this area is still developing, and I follow it closely.

As with everything in my practice, I pair the emerging science with careful clinical judgment about when this therapy is appropriate for you

Why Combine Acupuncture and BMT?

Sometimes I use acupuncture. Sometimes BMT. Sometimes both.

Not because more is always better. Because different tools have different strengths.

Acupuncture remains the foundation of my practice and it excels at working with the nervous system as a whole. BMT gives me a way to target communication at the tissue and cellular level, often in areas or situations
where it adds something acupuncture alone doesn't. My job is to know which tool fits your situation, and when combining them offers the greatest opportunity for improvement.

Is It Safe?

Yes. BMT uses extremely low levels of electrical current and is considered very safe and well tolerated.

It's non-invasive, gentle, and comfortable for nearly everyone.

One important precaution: if you have a pacemaker or any other implanted electrical device, please let us know before treatment so we can determine whether this therapy is appropriate for you.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

It varies based on your condition. Some patients notice improvement quickly, while others benefit from a series of treatments to achieve longer-lasting results. Your care plan is always customized to your needs and adjusted
based on how your body responds, never a fixed schedule.

Technology doesn't heal people. People heal people

Every person who walks into my office has a different history, different goals, and a different story. My job is to determine which tools are most appropriate for your situation, explain why I recommend them, and help your body create the best possible environment for healing.

Sometimes that's acupuncture.

Sometimes it's BioSignal Modulation Therapy.

Sometimes it's both.

The treatment is always built around you, never the other way around.
