BioOx Recovery Therapy™
An advanced, oxygen-based therapy that supports wound healing and tissue recovery.
Often used as a standalone treatment, especially for wounds that have been slow to heal.
When a Wound Won't Heal
A wound that won't heal affects far more than the skin. Everyday activities become difficult. Infection becomes a constant worry. And after months of dressings, appointments, and treatments that haven't worked, many
people quietly begin to lose hope.
Wounds stall for many reasons: poor circulation, diabetes, pressure, inflammation, reduced oxygen delivery, or tissue that simply isn't healthy enough to repair itself.
Often it's several of these at once.
Whatever the reason, the result is the same. The body wants to heal, but the local environment isn't cooperating.
What Is BioOx Recovery Therapy?
BioOx Recovery Therapy is designed to support the body's natural healing response by improving the environment where healing happens.
The name tells you what it is: Bio means the body. Ox means oxygen.
Healing tissue is hungry for oxygen and BioOx therapy delivers a highly active form of it directly to the area that needs help, in a controlled and contained way.
“Wait, Isn't Ozone Bad for You?”
You may have heard of ozone as something harmful, and in one context, that's true. Breathing ozone in polluted air irritates the lungs, which is why it has a bad reputation. But that's exactly the point of how this therapy
works: you never breathe it.
In BioOx Recovery Therapy, medical-grade ozone, a highly reactive form of oxygen, is applied in a controlled, contained and targeted way to the specific tissue that needs support.
Think of it the way you'd think of the sun. Unprotected exposure for hours is harmful, yet focused, appropriate use of the same energy is how we get vitamin D, warmth, and even certain medical treatments.
Context and control make all the difference.
A Story That Explains Why I Offer This
One of my patients, a veteran with diabetes, had been receiving conventional care for a chronic toe ulcer that hadn't improved over several months. After carefully evaluating his situation, we added BioOx Recovery Therapy to his care. Over the following treatments, the wound gradually improved until it ultimately healed.
Every patient is different, and results vary. But experiences like his are the reason I chose to bring this therapy into my practice.
My goal isn't simply to close a wound. My goal is to help create the best possible environment for your body to heal.
Sometimes that happens quickly. Sometimes it takes time. Every patient heals at their own pace, and my role is to evaluate your progress honestly and adjust your care accordingly.
How It Works
For tissue to heal, the local environment has to support healing. When tissue is stressed, injured, or slow to recover, that local environment often can't support repair: circulation is limited, oxygen is scarce, and the cells responsible for rebuilding can't do their job well.
BioOx Recovery Therapy supports that environment by promoting oxygen availability in the treated area, supporting tissue recovery, and assisting the body's natural repair processes. It doesn't force healing. It helps create the conditions healing needs.
What It May Help Support
BioOx Recovery Therapy is most often used for wound care, including diabetic foot ulcers, venous and pressure ulcers, surgical wounds, slow-healing injuries, and wounds that have resisted other approaches. It can also
support tissue recovery, localized areas of irritation or delayed healing, and select sinus and ear applications, which I determine on a case-by-case basis during consultation.
One thing to know: BioOx works alongside your existing wound care, not instead of it. If you're being followed by a wound clinic, podiatrist, or physician, that care continues, and I'm glad to coordinate with your providers.
Suncoast BioOx Wound Recovery Protocol™
A structured treatment approach developed specifically for chronic and difficult-to-heal wounds.
For patients whose primary concern is a wound that won't heal, I developed a focused protocol built specifically around wound healing and tissue repair. Treatments are quick and targeted, designed for consistency from visit to visit and structured so the therapy is accessible for patients who need a series of sessions.
This protocol is frequently a standalone treatment. You don't need to be an acupuncture patient to receive it.
What To Expect
Treatments are brief, targeted, and well tolerated. Depending on the protocol, therapy is applied to specific areas using a controlled and contained method, and most sessions take only a short amount of time.
At your first visit, I'll evaluate whether this therapy is appropriate for your situation and which protocol best fits your needs and I'll explain exactly what your treatment will involve before we begin.
Is It Safe?
Yes, when applied correctly. Every BioOx treatment in my practice uses controlled, contained application methods, so the therapy reaches the tissue being treated and nowhere else. The treatments are non-invasive or
minimally invasive depending on the protocol, and most patients find them very comfortable.
As with every therapy I offer, the first step is an evaluation. If BioOx isn't appropriate for your situation, I'll tell you so and we'll discuss what makes better sense for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
It's the same molecule but handled in a completely different way. The danger you've heard about comes from breathing high levels of ozone in polluted air.
In this therapy, medical-grade ozone is applied in a contained, targeted manner to the tissue being treated. The section above explains this in more detail.
Most patients find treatment very comfortable. Depending on the protocol, you may feel little or nothing at all during application. If a wound is tender, I work carefully around your comfort level.
No. BioOx is designed to work alongside conventional wound care, not replace it.
Keep your appointments with your wound clinic, podiatrist, or physician, and let them know about your treatment here. I'm always happy to coordinate care.
It depends on the wound or condition, how long it's been present, and how your body responds.
Chronic wounds usually benefit from a series of treatments, and I'll give you an honest assessment after your evaluation, then adjust as we track your progress.
No. BioOx Recovery Therapy is often a standalone treatment, especially for wound care.
Some patients combine it with acupuncture or BioSignal Modulation Therapy when it makes sense for their overall plan, but that's entirely based on your situation.
Unfortunately, insurance does not usually cover this service. However, we will still look into your specific benefits and explain your options, including self-pay if needed, before you commit to anything.
How It Fits Into Your Care
For many patients, BioOx Recovery Therapy is the treatment, start to finish.
For others, it's one part of a comprehensive plan that may include acupuncture, BioSignal Modulation Therapy™ and functional and integrative care approaches.
Either way, the goal is the same: to support healing from every angle that your situation calls for, and no more than that.
